How to Use It
The Fear & Greed Index is a contrarian indicator. The classic strategy is:
🔴
Extreme Fear (0-24)
Others are selling in panic. This can be a buying opportunity — "be greedy when others are fearful."
🟢
Extreme Greed (75-100)
Market is overheated. Consider taking profits — "be fearful when others are greedy."
Important: This index should be one of many tools in your decision-making process, not the only one.
Combine with technical analysis, on-chain data, and fundamental research for a complete picture.
Historical accuracy: During COVID crash (March 2020), the index hit 8 — Bitcoin then rallied 1,500% over the next 20 months. During the November 2021 peak, it hit 84 — Bitcoin then dropped 77%.
